In 2018, I read the story of Lido Lotefa, a young footballer of Congolese origins who fled civil war in Congo and arrived in Ireland as a refugee when he was only a child. After showing promise as a player on the team in his refugee centre (direct provision centres in Ireland), he worked his way through adversity and became a professional player for Dundalk F.C. However, after being released from his contract with Dundalk at the end of last season Lido's future is now uncertain.
We followed Lido's journey over the last 2 years and this was broadcast as part of the online hub on Ireland's leading broadcaster, RTE. The story shows his determination to overcome adversity in a young man who has been through so much. And even now, when the odds are stacked against him he refuses to give up.
On this project, I played multiple roles of directing, producing and some editing. It was a collaborative effort with all of the team involved and one of the proudest things I've been a part of.
